Growing up between Kiel and Elkhart Lake on a family-run farm, I was raised to be a hard worker. There was no history of carpentry in my family – I first took an interest in it during my Kiel High School years. From wood classes and small indoor building projects, I knew that this was what I wanted to do for a living.
Starting right after graduation, I began installing windows, doors and vinyl siding with a company from Plymouth. I was fortunate to work with a retired carpenter who showed me the ropes. From that point, I moved on to framing residential homes and condos, constructing additions, remodeling, working on housing complexes for senior citizens and various other tasks related to carpentry.
I was never afraid of a challenge. The more complex the project, the better! What a great way to get experience – right on the job. After years of learning under my supervisors and mentors, I decided to start my own company-Charles Carpentry, LLC – a general contracting/sub-contractor company.
Since starting in my own business in 1994, I have learned a lot and continue to learn new techniques and tricks of the trade all the time. I have three things to be grateful for – my family, my customers and the great employees who help me do quality work. Thanks for the opportunity to serve you.
At Charles Carpentry, we believe that experience talks loudly. We don't claim to have a corner on the market, or every great idea in home construction and remodeling. But the experience we bring to the table provides us with the kind of common sense and foresight needed for building in today's world, something we know you can relate to.
